![]() We also talked about his work with Ryuichi Sakamoto, his live techniques, and the origin of the title Hotel Paral.lel. It makes sense that he and Peter Rehberg were drinking buddies. He was a testier interviewee than I remembered! But also quite candid, and funny, in a very wry way. So here, as a bonus issue for paying subscribers, is that 10-year-old interview. ![]() ![]() But I recently came across those photos and wondered (no pun intended) if I still had the interview on my hard drive anywhere lo and behold, I did. Wondering Sound eventually shut down, taking its archives with it. Not what I’d expected from the creator of Endless Summer. Prescient!) We drank three relatively high-ABV beers in an unadvisedly short span and then walked around the Raval on a sort of lightning-round photo shoot, which was made even more difficult by Fennesz’ determination to ham it up. (This was, of course, years before I’d end up coming on board as a co-host of Lapsus Radio. The Viennese glitch titan had recently released Bécs, his third album for Mego/Editions Mego-he considered it the closing chapter of a trilogy, along with Hotel Paral.lel and Endless Summer -and was in town for the Lapsus Festival. I was given a free copy of the styles in order to test and write this review.Back in 2014, I interviewed Fennesz for Wondering Sound, the music website that was spun off from download platform eMusic’s editorial operations. Fortunately, it is a solid set which I can recommend without reservation.ĭISCLAIMER AND DISCLOSURE: I was not paid for this review, nor am I an affiliate of Capture One Styles or Capture One, and I will not receive any compensation should you purchase a copy of the presets. If you use Capture One and want film emulation presets, these are your only choice. The Extended Set also includes 4 cross-processed looks, one of which is featured here:Īll of these images, by the way, are from a Sunday afternoon photowalk I took on City Island in the Bronx with my daughter in November. Neither set supports any Capture One Express version. The new set works with Capture One Pro versions 8 and the recently released Capture One 9, (the original set works with Pro Versions 6 through 9). To use them with additional Presets, you just have to turn on the Stack Styles feature in Capture One, which is a pretty neat option in its own right. night's sleep, even a phone call can leech the original intensity that is needed if the idea is to be worked through. The grain settings work on any image, including those treated with the original set, or those not adjusted with the Film Styles at all. This new set includes variants for some of the styles in Set 1, and adds new films including Kodak Gold and Ektar, Agfa Vista, Rollei Retro (a great B&W option), and more. From a user experience perspective, presets are older and less sophisticated. Version 4 is older and uses presets, while version 5 is newer and uses profiles. RNI All Films are offered as presets and profiles for Adobe Lightroom / Camera RAW. ![]() It is called, simply, the Capture One Film Styles Extended Set. Lightroom and Capture One Presets/Profiles. If youd like to add other colour profiles or styles, there are a number of options available online for free and for sale. Not surprisingly, Alexander Svet, the owner and creator of the C1 Film Styles, has come out with a second set, adding 100 new styles (25 B&W and 75 Color) plus 25 all-new grain emulations. The original Capture One Film Style set had 100 total, which is hardly insubstantial, but was not enough for some tastes. VSCO has countless Film styles with multiple variations for each. If that is not enough, it is usually because it literally is not enough. At this point, I always mention the Capture One Film Styles, which I previously reviewed here. Whenever Capture One Pro comes up for discussion, invariably someone will say it is a very tempting piece of software, but s/he cannot give up the VSCO Film Pack emulations for Lightroom. Learn more and purchase yours at the links below: Night & Day Lightroom Desktop Presets. Photographers love to discuss gear, software, and other tools. The Night & Day Pack is available for three different photo editing platforms. I have changed the links but otherwise the review is as originally presented. EDIT 6/5/17: “Film Styles for Capture One” has rebranded to 1Styles.pro.
